Born and raised in Los Angeles, I graduated from Loyola High School and studied classical cello and world literature at UC Berkeley before beginning medical training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. I completed my adult psychiatry residency at the University of Cincinnati and child psychiatry fellowship at Harbor-UCLA in Los Angeles.
I have particular expertise in working with children with autism and trauma, as well as obsessive-compulsive and bipolar disorders. When evaluating children, I work closely with the family, school, pediatrician, and therapist to ensure a complete evaluation before making any recommendations for treatment.
I use a structural systems approach in working with couples and families in therapy. I completed eight years of training as a candidate in psychoanalysis at the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC) and adopt a psychoanalytic approach to therapy with individuals, including play therapy with children.
Having worked and studied for several years in Switzerland, Japan, France, and Mexico, I speak French, Spanish, and Japanese. I have trained for many years in the martial arts, including Krav Maga, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Aikido.
My private practice is located in West LA and is virtually paperless, with a fully electronic medical record with patient portal and e-prescribing. Time-saving tools that benefit my patients include virtual signature, electronic patient symptom scales, and cutting edge Apple-based cloud server software on a Mac Air, iPad, and iPhone.
I publish my opinions on the intersection of healthcare and politics at Dissident MD.
